Born in Munich, Germany, Simone found her love for photography in Auckland, New Zealand, where she went on her first creative journey with an analog camera to explore the world.

The exploration of the darkness and infinity of the universe is topic of her work 'Major Tom'. The clinical beauty and elegance of space technology cannot hide the fact that humans are left alone in their journeys to the outer space.

New Zealand as recurrent motive re-emerges again in her series 'New Zealand Gothic', moonlit portraits of a deserted landscape that is alienated to the touristic motives usually connected with this island country. The book 'New Zealand Gothic' was awarded with the 2012 BEST-Sabel student stipend. To purchase the book you can write to simone@sbilgram.com

'Da sein', awarded at the PhotoVision Youth Contest 2012, has been her most intimate work so far. Dealing with the different stages of the loss of her father, the fundamental question arose as to what happens to the identity of a human being when it stops existing. With her camera, Simone tries to capture this transition and works around the voids that are left behind.
